06.03.2025
Today, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski hosted at the MFA a group of ambassadors from the Arab states accredited to Warsaw. The talks focused on the conflict in the Middle East.
The meeting was held at the initiative of Palestinian Ambassador Mahmoud Khalifa, the dean of the Arab diplomatic corps. On behalf of ambassadors and heads of mission of Arab states, the diplomat presented the position on the future of the Palestinian State based on the implementation of the two-state solution within the 4 June 1967 borders. Ambassador Khalifa called for sustaining efforts to keep the ceasefire and de-escalate tensions in the Gaza Strip, support UNRWA, and increasing efforts to fully recognise the Palestinian State by the international community.
The meeting participants also talked about the outcomes of the extraordinary summit of the League of Arab States, which convened in Cairo this week, during which a long-term plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and its post-war functioning was developed.
Minister Radosław Sikorski reminded the attendees that Poland is one of the countries which recognize Palestine and that it invariably supports the two-state solution. At the same time, Poland recognises Israel’s right to defend itself, exercised within the limits of international law.
