“Kazakhstan remains Poland’s most important partner in Central Asia, both in the political and economic sphere. We are also connected by numerous ties in other areas such as culture and science, and the Polish community in Kazakhstan of over 30,000 people remains a natural bridge between our countries,” noted Deputy Minister Przydacz. Referring to the 85th anniversary of the first deportations of Poles to Kazakhstan, which will be celebrated in 2021, the deputy chief of Polish diplomacy stressed that Polish deportees received a lot of help and support from the people of Kazakhstan.

The ministers agreed that in recent years our countries have considerably strengthened their bilateral contacts at higher levels, which has notably translated into, among others, increased trade and investments. We also continue to show solidarity in the face of common challenges, such as the  COVID-19 pandemic. This is evidenced by the Polish convoy that brought humanitarian aid to Kazakhstan in November 2020.

The discussion between Poland’s and Kazakhstan’s deputy heads of diplomacy was a good opportunity to exchange views on intensified cooperation in Central Asia and other aspects of international policy. “We are pleased with our cooperation at international fora, in particular within the United Nations as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council in 2018,” underlined Deputy Minister Przydacz. “Thanks to our good political relations, we have managed to increase exports of Polish goods to Kazakhstan by 53.9% this year, despite the pandemic. We also highly value our relations with Kazakhstan as a partner of the European Union – it is the first country in Central Asia to have concluded the enhanced partnership and cooperation agreement with the EU.”

Deputy Minister Przydacz congratulated Kazakhstan on Kairat Abdrakhmanov’s appointment as OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities. He also expressed the hope for close cooperation with the High Commissioner and Kazakhstan both within the framework of the so-called Troika and during Poland’s chairmanship of the OSCE in 2022.
