Deputy Ministers Maciej Lang and Julian Ventura Valero chaired the 12th round of bilateral political consultations in the capital of Mexico. The key issues under discussion were political, economic, cultural and scientific cooperation, as well as consular, multilateral and regional issues.

“Mexico is one of Poland’s key economic partners in Latin America and main destination for Polish export in the region” said the deputy head of Polish MFA. He also recalled that Polish direct investments in Mexico have increased recently. On this occasion, both sides agreed that it is necessary to continue the High Level Task Force on Economic Affairs.

The Mexican side expressed their interest in Poland’s experience as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. During the meeting, Deputy Minister Maciej Lang presented Polish perspective of the EU future after recent institutional changes and the country’s position on Russian policy.

On the sidelines of the consultations, the deputy head of Polish diplomacy presented his counterpart with a memorandum which stated deep concern with the situation of a Polish master mariner incarcerated in Mexico.

During his visit in Mexico, Deputy Minister Lang also met with the representatives of Polish diaspora. Referring to two new Polish associations established this year, the “Klub Polski” Polish Culture Centre and the Santa Rosa Polish House, the diplomat thanked the Polish diaspora for their contribution to the promotion of Poland’s positive image in Mexico.
