26.05.2021

- Tunisia is Poland’s important partner with whom we would like to develop good and friendly relations in all fields - said Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński during talks with his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Ali Nafti. The main topics of the online meeting were bilateral economic and political cooperation as well as sharing experiences related to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The interlocutors agreed about the large, though not fully tapped, potential for trade and investment collaboration, contacts between the military, exchange of expertise in agriculture and natural environment protection, as well as people-to-people contacts, including scientific, academic and cultural cooperation. The deputy foreign ministers also noted a growing interest by Polish companies in the Tunisian market as well as an increased willingness on the part of Tunisian entrepreneurs to carry out joint business projects with Polish partners.

The agenda of the videoconference also covered prospects for expanding the bilateral treaty base and cooperation in tourism, including the safety and security of Polish tourists in Tunisia.

Poland has supported Tunisia’s democratic, economic and social transition, and will continue to do so -  said Deputy Minister Jabłoński declaring Poland’s willingness to reinvigorate both bilateral relations and political dialogue after the COVID-19 pandemic ends.

The regular consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers of Poland and Tunisia are an important element of collaboration between our two countries. The meetings are held on a rotational basis in Warsaw and Tunis. The last edition of the consultations took place in Tunisia in February 2017.
