Polish-Angolan political consultations in Warsaw

Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski met in Warsaw with Secretary of State at the Ministry of External Relations of the Republic of Angola, Domingos Custodio Vieira Lopese. Moreover, the deputy chiefs of diplomacy of Poland and Angola, Wojciech Zajączkowski and Domingos Custodio Vieira Lopese respectively, discussed political and economic bilateral and regional relations. They also addressed the issue of global security as well as countering disinformation and Russian propaganda.

Polish–Angolan political consultations in Warsaw

The meeting covered the current security situation in Europe and in the region of Western and Central Africa. Undersecretary of State Wojciech Zajączkowski praised Angola’s engagement in stabilisation processes in sub-Saharan Africa and the achievements of the current Angolan presidency of the African Union. He stressed that close cooperation between Angola and Poland, much like cooperation with the EU, is in the interest of both sides. He also expressed his hope for a constructive dialogue during the European Union–African Union summit scheduled to be held in Luanda.

Deputy Foreign Minister Wojciech Zajączkowski addressed the threats to security and stability in Europe as well as in Africa, and noted the need to maintain global governance based on multilateralism, respect for international law, democracy, and human rights. He welcomed the growing dynamics of Polish–Angolan political contacts and expressed his hope for the development of economic cooperation. 

The officials also discussed the issue of possible management of the unused funds from the tied loan granted to Angola.

As a part of consultations, a round table was organised in cooperation with the Polish Investment and Trade Agency and the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of the Republic of Poland to discuss prospects for the development of economic relations.
