Polish-Vietnamese political consultations in Warsaw
08.07.2025
Secretary of State Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski held political consultations with his Vietnamese counterpart, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang. The meeting took place in Warsaw on 8 July 2025.
The participants recapitulated on the state of bilateral relations 75 years after the establishment of diplomatic relations and discussed the prospects for their advancement.
They talked about the possibilities to tap into the potential behind Polish–Vietnamese cooperation in such fields as trade and investment, innovation, digitalisation, green technologies and energy, tourism, science and education, the pharmaceutical sector, the defence sector, and geology. Noting that Vietnam is Poland’s key trading partner in Southeast Asia, Deputy Minister Władysław Teofil Bartoszewski pointed to the need for a better balance in bilateral trade, achievable through such measures as the lifting of barriers for Polish agricultural products in accessing the Vietnamese market.
The interlocutors reaffirmed readiness for more intensified bilateral cooperation, in line with the Joint Statement by the prime ministers of Poland and Vietnam adopted when the head of the Vietnamese government visited Poland in January 2025, including in the context of preparations for subsequent high-level visits.
The parties shared views on regional and global issues, emphasizing their principled commitment to the fundamental rules of international order, such as the respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and inviolability of state borders, the settlement of disputes by peaceful means, and refraining from the threat or use of force in international relations.
Prior to the consultations on the level of deputy ministers, the Vietnamese delegation paid a courtesy call on Poland’s Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, during which Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang presented Poland’s top diplomat with an invitation from Vietnam’s Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son to visit Vietnam.
