Secretary of State Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk meets with young Poles from abroad

25.07.2019

“During your stay here, you are learning the Polish language, Polish culture, history and customs, but you also get to know Poles who have been living in Poland since their birth. You get to know the country where your forefathers lived, your close or more distant family. You are learning your roots,” Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk said to the young participants of the “Polska jest w Tobie” (Poland is in You) programme.

The meeting at the MFA was part of the “Poland is in You” project. It invited around 250 young people of Polish descent from Kazakhstan, Russia, Latvia, Belarus, the US, Brazil, Argentina and Western European countries. In July and August, young people aged 12 to 20 will visit Warsaw, Gdansk, Wroclaw, Wadowice, Zakopane and Krakow and meet with the representatives of state authorities and war veterans. During their stay in Poland, the participants will practice their Polish language skills, see the landmarks of Polish history and culture, and take part in various workshops and trainings.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the strategic partner of the programme. Its participants were recruited by Polish diplomatic and consular missions. Moreover, the MFA supported the programme by using the funds of the Department for Cooperation with Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad to subsidise the travel of youths from Argentina, Brazil, Kazakhstan and Russia.

The “Poland is in You” programme, under the Honorary Patronage of the President of Poland Andrzej Duda, was inaugurated on 15 July 2019 in the Presidential Palace. The programme is a joint initiative of more than a dozen state institutions, NGOs and commercial entities involved in promoting and building relations with the Polish diaspora and the Polish community abroad.
