On 8 May, Undersecretary of State Marek Prawda met in Warsaw with Gunther Krichbaum, Minister of State at the German Federal Foreign Office.
The officials emphasised their intention to give new momentum to bilateral relations. They agreed that the fruitful meeting on 7 May between Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Chancellor Friedrich Merz followed by the foreign ministers’ talks the next day represent an important and long-awaited stimulus for further development of Polish-German relations.
Deputy Minister Prawda stressed that Poland is committed to an effective dialogue with Berlin and to a forward-looking, ambitious approach to the present and future of the bilateral relationship. The deputy ministers also raised challenges related to migration, including the current situation on the Polish-German border.
Also discussed were key opportunities for strengthening the Weimar Triangle and actions the European Union could take towards partners in the region.
