Undersecretary of State Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef takes part in political consultations in Colombia

On 29-30 May, Deputy Minister Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef paid a visit to Colombia, where she carried out political consultations with her Colombian counterpart, Deputy Minister Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio. During the meeting, Polish-Colombian relationships were discussed.

Deputy Foreign Ministers of Poland and Colombia talked about student exchange, police cooperation as well as migration and consulate work. They emphasised the success of the 10th edition of the “sports diplomacy” project, during which Colombian youth visited their Polish peers. Besides, Deputy Ministers addressed certain global issues, such as the war in Ukraine, the current Middle East conflict, and the cooperation between the EU and CELAC (the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States).

During the visit to Bogotá, Deputy Minister Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef met with Deputy Minister of Trade Luis Felipe Quintero and Maria Paula Arenas Quijano, vice president of the government agency ProColombia. The discussions focused on trade and institutional cooperation, including the implementation of the EU-Colombia-Peru-Ecuador Trade Agreement and the prospects of organising a trade mission of Polish companies.

Moreover, Undersecretary of State Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef met Imelda Restrepo, a representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and vice president of the National Business Association of Colombia. Polish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also delivered a lecture at the Diplomatic Academy, during which she presented, to young Colombian diplomats, the stance of the Republic of Poland regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In 2024, Colombia was the fourth Polish partner in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean, both in terms of imports (USD 500 million) and exports (USD 165 million). Poland imports coal and food products from Colombia, and exports  cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and powdered milk.
