During an online ministerial meeting, the countries of the Nordic–Baltic 8++ group adopted a joint statement on coordinated initiatives to counter the Russia’s shadow fleet. The fleet’s activities involve evading sanctions and pose a threat to the natural environment and the safety of navigation.

Signatories of the joint statement will work on compiling common guidelines in accordance with international law that would establish protocols for addressing vessels without a flag.
