Minister Jacek Czaputowicz emphasised that the project is one of the most important tools which help integrate Central European EU member states. Poland contributed EUR 500 million to the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund (apart from Poland, Romania, Hungary, Estonia and Latvia also joined the Fund, with each country pledging EUR 20 million). The minister also expressed his appreciation for the involvement of the United States in the establishment of the fund. He also noted that Poland supports intensive intergovernmental cooperation as part of the Initiative, which promotes successful political cooperation at the level of heads of states. The Polish foreign minister pointed out that the complications to global trade caused by the pandemic made regional economic cooperation all the more important. Minister Jacek Czaputowicz thanked the Estonian partners for their effectiveness in preparing the Three Seas Summit, to be held in Tallinn on 19-20 October this year, and for organising the today’s video conference.

Its strategic objective is to maintain and strengthen the social and economic cohesion of the EU and the Euro-Atlantic area. The leaders of Central European countries want to achieve this goal by modernising their economies, focusing on better integrating the region’s infrastructure, strengthening its energy security and competitiveness of energy supply as well as boosting digital economy.
