Poland in the EU

Representatives of governments and European institutions, as well as representatives of regions, participated in a video-conference on the Carpathian strategy. The event was organized by the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the EU in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, Funds and Regional Policy.

During the General Affairs Council, EU ministers were focused on the preparation of the next European Council and discussed the state of negotiations between the European Union and Great Britain. Poland was represented by the Minister for the European Union, Konrad Szymański.

The European Union's relations with Russia, the situation in Belarus and the events in Nagorno-Karabakh were the main topics of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting held in Luxembourg. The Polish delegation was headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zbigniew Rau.

The new Pact on Migration and Asylum was the main topic of the meeting of EU ministers responsible for internal affairs, which took place in the form of a video conference. Poland was represented by Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs and Administration Bartosz Grodecki.

The situation in Belarus, the European Union's relations with Turkey, and the attempted murder of the opposition leader in Russia, Alexei Navalny, were the main topics of the extraordinary European Council. The leaders also discussed plans related to the development of the EU internal market, industrial policy and digital transformation. Poland was represented by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Prime Ministers Mateusz Morawiecki, Viktor Orbán and Andrej Babiš met in Brussels with the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in order to talk about issues related to migration, the EU budget and the situation in Belarus.

Ministers exchanged views on the draft conclusions for the upcoming special European Council meeting. Poland was represented by the Minister for the European Union, Konrad Szymański.

The situation in Belarus, the poisoning of Alexei Navalny, the southern neighborhood of the EU and the cooperation of the European Union with the African Union were the main topics of the meeting of foreign ministers of the EU member states.

The head of the Polish government took part in video consultations of a group of EU leaders with the President of the European Council Charles Michel, during which the PM raised issues related to the current international situation, including in Belarus and Russia. EU leaders also discussed trade relations with China and EU policy towards Turkey. The exchange of positions precedes the EU-China video conference scheduled for 14 September and the extraordinary European Council (24-25 September).
