Poland in the EU

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki attended the third summit between the leaders of the European Union and the leaders of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (EU-CELAC). The summit was an opportunity to further strengthen the partnership between the continents.

Migration, Russian aggression against Ukraine, the economy, and relations with China were the main topics of the two-day European Council meeting attended by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Preparations for the upcoming European Council and the impact of the EU carbon market on socio-economic aspects and the functioning of the free market were the main topics of the General Affairs Council with the participation of Mr Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, Minister for European Union Affairs.

On 26 June 2023, Secretary of State Arkadiusz Mularczyk participated in a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in Luxembourg in place of Minister Zbigniew Rau. The meeting focused on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the EU’s relations with Latin America and Caribbean states, and digital diplomacy.

On 24 April, Minister Zbigniew Rau took part in an EU Foreign Affairs Council session in Luxembourg.

During the European Council meeting, EU leaders discussed Russian aggression against Ukraine and continued support for that country. The conversation also focused on issues of competitiveness, the single market, the economy, energy, and migration. The leaders' meeting also included an expanded Eurozone summit, with the participation of all 27 leaders. Poland was represented by Mr. Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister.

The main topics of the Extraordinary European Council meeting were the discussion on the situation in Ukraine, migration and economic issues. Russia's aggression against Ukraine remains at the centre of leaders' discussions. The European Council discussed the European Union's continued support for that country in all its dimensions.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau took part in another Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting.

The main topics of the European Council meeting were discussion of the situation in Ukraine, energy issues, security policy and defence. On the eve of the European Council, an EU-ASEAN summit was held. Poland was represented by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

The meeting of EU foreign ministers focused on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the developments in the Great African Lakes region, and the situation in the Western Balkan states. On the margins of the Council, the officials also met with the leader of Belarusian opposition Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya.
