The Budget Department handles matters of public finance and accounting for the administrator of parts 31 – Labour, 44 – Social Security and 63 – Family, the administrator of third-level state budget funds and the Labour Fund, Guaranteed Employee Benefits Fund and Solidarity Fund.

• preparing a plan of budget revenues and expenditures and aggregate financial plans for special purpose funds;
• developing the financial part of the task-oriented budget and the multi-annual financial plan of the state;
• preparing draft decisions on amendments to the budget and financial plans of special purpose funds;
• preparing proposals to the Council of Ministers and the Minister of Finance for the allocation of additional budgetary resources from special purpose and general reserves;
• handling matters relating to the provision of targeted grants;
• implementing budget revenues and expenditures and financial plans for special purpose funds;
• conducting matters related to execution proceedings in administration concerning public-law receivables and verifying the status of civil-law receivables;
• keeping accounting records;
• preparing financial, budgetary, extra-budgetary and statistical reports;
• preparing periodic information on the course of tasks performed, income and expenditures, as well as financial plans for special purpose funds;
• preparing, in cooperation with the organisational units, information for the committees of the Polish Parliament (Sejm and Senate) on the project and implementation of the budget within the scope of the Minister's jurisdiction;
• giving opinions and analysing, from the financial point of view, the draft financial plan and financial reports of the State Fund for the Rehabilitation of the Disable (PFRON);
