The government's activities for seniors, improving social activation of the elderly, and the activities of Ognisko Bielany were just some of the topics discussed during Monday's meeting of Minister Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk at Ognisko Bielany and Bielany Senior Support Center "Senior+".

During the meeting, the minister stressed the importance of activity and social integration of the elderly in cooperation with young people.

It is important that there are places where needs that are common to us all can be realised. This is, firstly, the need for activity. This is secondly the need to be needed. Being constructive. Giving something of yourself to another person. And thirdly - perhaps most importantly - the great need for community. Communities of like-minded people. Communities of diverse people. Intergenerational community. I congratulate the authorities of the Bielany district for having succeeded in creating such a good place for intergenerational cooperation, joint activity and operations, said Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, Minister for Family, Labour and Social Policy, during the meeting.

As part of the minister's visit, she participated in a ceremony organised on the occasion of Grandmother's and Grandfather's Day at the facility. She presented the seniors in attendance with commemorative gifts and extended her wishes and congratulations on the centre's anniversary.

The meeting was also attended by the mayor of Bielany district Grzegorz Pietruczuk, his deputy Włodzimierz Piątkowski, councillor Anna Czarnecka and the director of the Bielany Social Welfare Centre of the capital city of Warsaw, Agnieszka Filipowicz.

The Bielany Senior Support Centre "Senior+" is a day care centre for 80 seniors providing multidirectional support in overcoming daily difficulties. Participants in the facility benefit from a wide range of cultural and educational activities. The aim of the centre is to improve the quality of life of seniors, to counter isolation and marginalisation of the elderly.
