Idle time benefit and social security contributions exemptions - efficient implementation of key instruments of the Anti-Crisis Shield

So far, over PLN 2.2 billion has been paid out for idle time benefits, while over PLN 7.2 billion in Social Insurance Institution contributions were exempted. On Tuesday, the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Marlena Maląg and the President of the Social Insurance Institution, prof. Gertruda Uścińska summarised the implementation of two key instruments of the anti-crisis shield during a press conference.

So far, the support for entrepreneurs granted under the three shields - financial, aid and anti-crisis - has already amounted to PLN 70.5 billion, out of which 21 billion is the total amount of aid provided under various instruments of the anti-crisis shield. That includes support from the resources of the Guaranteed Employee Benefits Fund, loans to micro-entrepreneurs or idle time benefits granted by the Social Insurance Institution.

Nearly one million processed applications for idle time benefit

According to the information gathered by the Social Insurance Institution, almost one million applications for idle time benefits for the self-employed and those employed on the basis of civil law contracts were processed for the total amount of PLN 2.26 billion. The majority of the idle time benefits were paid in the following voivodeships: Masovia - PLN 304.3 million, Silesia - PLN 217.6 million and Lesser Poland - PLN 206.2 million. - We would like to thank primarily the President as well as the employees of the Social Insurance Institution. Today, we can firmly say that 97% of idle time benefit applications were realised - said Minister Marlena Maląg.

Efficient operation

The anti-crisis shield also involves contribution exemptions. Minister Marlena Maląg states that the total amount of the exempt social security contributions currently reached PLN 7.2 billion.

- The facts speak for themselves: issuing the idle time benefit, exemption from social security contributions, but also the implementation of the basic tasks that the Social Insurance Institution shows that it is operating in an efficient manner. This allows us to direct support to entrepreneurs and eliminate the negative effects of the pandemic without undue delay - added the minister.

During the conference, Prof. Gertruda Uścińska also informed that as of this year, the Social Insurance Institution has been abandoning sending printed information about the account balance to people covered by insurance. - According to the Act, each insured person over 35 years of age will be able to information on the amount of collected contributions and the hypothetical amount of pension via the internet. Please remember to create trusted on-line profiles. Assistants will be also present in the customer service rooms to provide help in setting up these profiles - says Prof. Uścińska.
