Labor market - help for Ukrainian citizens

20.04.2022

Employment - seeking citizens of Ukraine can benefit from, inter alia, the Central Job Offer Database, the Green Line portal and the 19524 helpline, available in their language. And that’s not all! They can also register with the employment office. Here you will find the most important information and a reminder what to remember so as not to get tricked and cheated.

Labor market - help for Ukrainian citizens

These days, Ukrainian citizens have free access to the Polish labor market. In practice, this means that they no longer need any permits or declarations in order to be able to work in Poland. The only formal requirement - to report the employment of a Ukrainian citizen - rests with the employer, who has 14 days to do so.

Job seeking citizens of Ukraine can take advantage of, inter alia, the Central Job Offer Database, available in their language. But that’s not all. They also have at their disposal, for example, the 19524 helpline and the Green Line portal - a modern, virtual employment office, available to everyone, at any time. The Vortal of the Public Employment Services and the “Pomagam Ukrainie” website are also available in Ukrainian, says the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg.

Support for employment offices

Those who, for various reasons, are having trouble navigating the labor market, will not be left without support. Ukrainian citizens can register with the county labor office, thanks to which they will be able to use the services and instruments of the labor market. These include:

• job placement

• career counseling

• trainings, including Polish language lessons.

What to look out for in order to avoid getting tricked?

I wish to underline here certain basic rules related to taking up a job, which should help avoid unpleasant situations. The most important rule is to conclude a written employment contract with the employer, specifying the terms of employment and remuneration. Persuading a person to work without a contract of employment is against Polish law. Citizen of Ukraine, do not agree to this!,  appeals Marlena Maląg, the minister of family affairs.

Remember!

• Don't agree to work without a written contract. Without a signed contract, you work illegally and you are deprived of your legal employment rights.

• Before signing an employment contract, read the terms and conditions contained therein, or ask someone to explain and help you understand its provisions.

• In the event that your employer treats you inappropriately - for example, resorting to physical or mental coercion - immediately report the matter to the National Labor Inspectorate!

The National Labor Inspectorate provides free legal advice on the provisions regulating the legality of employment and employees' rights. Information is also available in Ukrainian and Russian. More information can be found at:

  • If you have become a victim of any other crime - contact the police immediately.
