Managing and providing places in sheltered flats is an own obligatory task of the municipality and of the district. However, local governments may expect the co-financing from the state budget.

Under the For Life programme, which has been implemented since 2017, the co-financing may be up to 80% of the costs of implementing the whole project. The funds may be allocated for the reconstruction, renovation or purchase of equipment in premises which are already owned by local government units, as well as for the construction of a building or the purchase of premises.
