Record lowest unemployment in July of the current year since 1990

Compared to the preceding month, the number of the unemployed in July this year decreased by 6.5 thousand, with 811.5 thousand people being registered as unemployed in the employment offices. - The last time less people were registered as unemployed was in July 1990 - informs Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg. The registered unemployment rate remained at the same level of 4.9%.

Record lowest unemployment in July of the current year since 1990

The registered unemployment rate, estimated by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy at the end of July 2022, amounted to 4.9%, with no changes compared to the preceding month. The rate was lower by 1 percentage point than at the end of July 2021.

According to preliminary data, 811.5 thousand unemployed were registered in the employment offices at the end of July 2022, 6.5 thousand less than a month earlier. The last time less people - 699 thousand - were registered as unemployed was in July 1990. This is a subsequent record month. The unemployment rate is expected to fall down during the summer season thanks to seasonal employment, but the best results in 32 years are particularly welcome - comments Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.

Wielkopolska records the lowest number of the unemployed

In late July 2022, the registered unemployment rate ranged from 2.7% for the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship to 7.6% for the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship. Four voivodeships recorded a decrease in the rate by 0.1 percentage point, if compared to June of the current year.

Improved labour market situation than before the pandemic

Comparing the unemployment rate at the end of July with the rate at the end of February 2020 (before the COVID-19 pandemic), the number of the registered unemployed fell down by approx. 108.3 thousand persons (by 11.8%), while the registered unemployment rate was 0.6 percentage point lower than at the end of February 2020.

Eurostat: Poland being the second EU Member State with lowest unemployment

According to the latest Eurostat data, Poland is once again at the top of the European Union with one of the lowest unemployment rates. The unemployment rate in June this year was 2.7% in Poland, according to the Eurostat methodology. The rate was 6% among the EU Member States and 6.6% in the Euro zone.

Poland was placed second (2.4%) after the Czech Republic, for the lowest unemployment rate in the EU. The third place was taken by Germany with 2.8%.
