Unemployment in March. Preliminary data of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy

In March this year, unemployment rate in Poland amounted to 5.4 percent – as provided by the estimates by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy. – This means a slight decrease compared to the previous month and by 0.4 percentage points less than in the same period last year. This confirms the effectiveness of aid measures that have been implemented by the Government of Law and Justice for many months – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.

According to the estimates by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, the unemployment rate recorded as of the end of March 2023 amounted to 5.4 percent. This is by 0.1 percentage points less compared to February this year and by 0.4 percentage points less compared to the end of March 2022. 

The lowest unemployment rate in Poland was recorded in the Greater Poland Voivodeship (3.2 percent), while the highest (9.2 percent) in the Warmian and Mazurian Voivodeship.

The number of unemployed registered in the employment offices in March this year amounted to 848.3 thousand. Compared to the previous month, the number of the unemployed decreased by 16.5 thousand people i.e. by 1.9 percent. As of the end of March 2023, the number of unemployed in registers was lower by 5.48 thousand (i.e. by 6.0 percent) compared to the end of March 2022.
The employers submitted 94.7 thousand job vacancies and job activation places in the employment offices. This is by 0.7 thousand more compared to February 2023.

Unemployment in Poland – Eurostat data

Favourable situation on the labour market is confirmed also by the Eurostat data. The unemployment rate in Poland, as of February this year, was 2.8 percent compared to 6 percent in the European Union and 6.6 percent in the Euro zone. This ranks Poland second, after Czech Republic, in terms of the lowest unemployment rate in the EU – says the Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Maląg.
