Access to the payment account

Payment services providers are obliged to offer basic payment accounts for domestic payments free of charge. Such account is intended for consumers who do not have any other payment account. By opening a basic payment account, consumers can take advantage of the basic, most popular services such as receiving salary or benefits, paying bills or taxes and purchasing goods and services, via direct debit, credit transfer and using a payment card, with exception of credit products.

The new regulations also introduced a procedure for switching of payment accounts service (between different providers). The new regulations also regulate the functioning of dedicated websites containing concise, complete and comprehensive information on the services of payment account providers dedicated for consumers, in order to give consumers an access to effective means of assessing the advantages of different payment account offers at one one place.
