Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank 

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is a multilateral development bank based in Beijing. Poland is one of the 57 founding members of the Bank. The AIIB began operations in January 2016 and has grown to over 100 approved members worldwide.
 
The main organs of the AIIB are:
  • Board of Governors,
  • Board of Directors,
  • Management, headed by the President Liqun Jin (China).
Member countries are represented through the Board of Governors. The Governor of the AIIB for Poland is the Minister of Finance. The Alternate Governor is the Member of the National Bank of Poland Management Board.
Poland is in the constituency together with Denmark, Hungary, Iceland, Norway, Romania, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. 
For the two-year term starting on 1 July 2022 the representative of Switzerland is a Director for this constituency and a representative of Poland is among his advisors.
The Bank's objective is to support sustainable economic growth and infrastructure development to improve connectivity in Asia. AIIB invests in infrastructure and other productive sectors. The Bank works with other development institutions to promote regional cooperation.

Promoting green infrastructure and helping countries to meet their environmental and development goals.
  • Cross-border connectivity
Prioritising cross-border infrastructure, ranging from roads and railways, to ports, energy pipelines and telecommunications in Central Asia, and maritime routes in South East and South Asia and the Middle East, and beyond.
  • Private capital mobilization
Developing innovative solutions that catalyse private capital, in partnership with other MDBs, governments, private financiers and other partners.
 
Instruments the Bank is offering:
  • direct loans,
  • equity investments,
  • guarantees.
