Communication no. 20 regarding the option of receiving correspondence from the GIFI via email.

Due to the situation related to the spread of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and the ensuing changes in the organization of work of the obligated institutions, the General Inspector of Financial Information allows the obligated institutions to replace the existing form of correspondence pursued by fax with email correspondence.

The obligated institutions wishing to receive correspondence from the GIFI via email are requested to:

  • send to sekretariat.if@mf.gov.pl the email addresses of employees of the obligated institution, to which the GIFI will send correspondence kept up so far by fax. The information should include: VAT ID of the obligated institution, its name and electronic mailbox addresses;
  • ensure – as far as possible in the difficult period of work reorganization – the timeliness of data reported in the identification form referred to in Article 77 of the AML Act, as well as consistency between email addresses indicated for correspondence and data contained in the identification form.

If more than one address is provided, the GIFI’s correspondence will be sent to each of them. Receipt of correspondence from the GIFI must be confirmed by acknowledgement of its receipt.

The above method of communication may be used, among others, for correspondence sent pursuant to Article 76, Article 86(3), Article 86(5) and Article 87(1) of the Act of Counteracting Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism (Journal of Laws of 2019, item 1115).

It should be emphasized that this method of correspondence will be used in particular to send the GIFI’s request referred to in Article 86(5) of the above-mentioned Act.
