The UN has published the final version of the ‘Katowice IGF Messages’, the conclusions of the UN Internet Governance Forum - IGF 2021, held in Poland in December. We encourage you to read it.

Katowice, Poland, 6 December – An additional 782 million people came online in just two years since 2019 – more than twice the population of the United States – but at the same time, unequal access, incendiary hate speech and cybercrime have been tearing at the fabric of the global web, prompting the UN Internet Governance Forum to seek measures that leverage the power of the Internet while tackling the risks.

In light of the recent spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant and yesterday’s announcement of Polish health authorities, the Host Country confirms that it goes ahead with the physical meeting as planned as it has taken all necessary precautions to make the event safe for those who meet criteria previously laid out.

Poland will for the first time host the United Nations Internet Governance Forum - IGF 2021. This most important digital and international event of the year will start already on 6 December in Katowice.

During the IGF 2021, Ingolf Wunder will play 3 pieces by famous Polish composers on the piano. Additionally, Ingolf Wunder will speak about the importance of quality music and music education for all of us, in a world full of technology and AI.

- For several years, Poland has been trying to obtain the right to host the UN Internet Governance Forum – IGF 2021. Organization of this event in our country is an expression of appreciation of our activities in the field of digitization, said Krzysztof Szubert, the Polish Plenipotentiary for the UN IGF 2021, at a press conference.
