    The National Broadcasting Council has published its summary of the first half of 2026 in public media. During this period, the KRRiT transferred more than PLN 291 million in subscription fee funds to public broadcasters, assessed the state of fulfilment of the public service mission, began work on plans for 2027, and intervened on key issues affecting the media market. At the same time, more than two years after public media were placed into liquidation, no genuine liquidation activities are being carried out. The companies continue to receive billions of zlotys in subsidies from the state budget. Nor has the government-promised reform of public media materialised.

    The Supreme Audit Office's (NIK) report on measures to protect children and young people online confirms the importance of the National Broadcasting Council's (KRRiT's) remit in establishing an effective system for the protection of minors in the digital environment. The NIK's findings indicate that, between 2020 and 2025, the KRRiT's expertise and knowledge regarding mechanisms for the protection of minors, research findings, regulatory experience and solutions for verifying users' ages were not utilised in the development of systemic solutions.

The introduction of so-called 'hydration breaks' during matches, during which advertisements were shown, raised numerous questions from viewers regarding the compliance of such practices with current regulations. We therefore provide the following clarification regarding the rules on the broadcasting of adverts during sports events.

    Dr Agnieszka Glapiak firmly rejected all allegations levelled against the National Broadcasting Council during a session of the Senate of the Republic of Poland devoted to the consideration of the KRRiT's Activity Report for 2025. The Chairwoman presented specific arguments refuting the false information. She emphasised that the KRRiT's activities should be assessed on the basis of facts, not political arguments.

    The crisis facing public media, standards for covering the presidential campaign, protection of freedom of speech, the safety of internet users, and the challenges of implementing new European regulations - these were the issues discussed by Dr Agnieszka Glapiak during a sitting of the Committee on Culture, National Heritage and Public Media. Today, Sejm committee heard KRRiT's Report on its 2025 activities. In her address, the Chair of the National Broadcasting Council stressed that protecting freedom of speech, the right to information, and the public interest in radio and television remains KRRiT's priority.

    Media literacy, countering disinformation, and building an informed information society were the main themes of the conference entitled 'Get to Grips with the Media - Aware in the World of Information', organised by the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT). The event saw the presentation of the results of a nationwide survey on media use, and KRRiT announced further initiatives in the field of media education, including the establishment of a Media Education Council.

    The media have a huge influence on the way we perceive reality. Almost 94% of Poles believe they affect our decisions and social moods. As many as 78% of us say we have personally encountered hate speech in the media, and 93% consider online hate to be a significant social problem. With regard to public media, 55% of respondents described them as biased, and 41% felt that they impose opinions and views on audiences. These are findings from the latest survey commissioned by the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT), presented during the conference 'Get to Grips with the Media - Aware in the World of Information'.

    I have noted with great concern reports on the situation of Polish media operating outside the country's borders, particularly in the East. Ensuring the proper functioning of media broadcasting for Poles abroad and the Polish diaspora is a duty of the state and a matter of Polish national interest.

    Marcin Kruszewski ('Prawo Marcina'), Natalia Sisik, Marcin Rafałowski ('Gęsia Skórka'), Julia Sierakowska ('domerituum'), Nadia Długosz ('nadjowa'), and Wojciech Wróbel ('Nie wiem, ale się dowiem!') are digital creators who have joined the National Broadcasting Council's educational efforts targeting influencers. Together with the Council, they remind us that online popularity is not only a privilege, but also entails specific responsibilities - including registering with the VOD registry.
