PIKE-CONNECT International Conference of Electronic Communications Operators with the participation of the Chair of the National Broadcasting Council

29.09.2025

The Chairwoman of the National Broadcasting Council, Dr Agnieszka Glapiak, took part today in the PIKE-CONNECT Conference organised by the Polish Chamber of Electronic Communication in Łódź. This annual event brings together representatives of the telecommunications and media industries. The National Broadcasting Council is the honorary patron of this event.

  • ‘The word “connect” refers to communication, i.e. communicating, expressing one's thoughts and opinions, and transmitting information. I am sure that this conference will be a place where we will be able to talk and discuss the most important issues for our industry’, said the Chair of the National Broadcasting Council during the official opening of the event.

The Chair of the National Broadcasting Council emphasised the key role of cable and satellite operators in the development of the television market in Poland. It is thanks to their activities that more than two-thirds of Polish households now have access to a variety of media content. She also drew attention to the significant contribution of the community to the development of broadband Internet and local media that build community and support local democracy.

The Chair referred to the dynamic changes in the digital media and technology sector, highlighting the opportunities and challenges that this presents to the market and regulators. As Dr Agnieszka Glapiak observed, global platforms and digital services dominate the internet. The media and digital technology sector is becoming increasingly complex every year. Technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and virtual and augmented reality have enormous potential not only to transform the media, but also to create completely new business models.

During the opening of the event, the role of European regulations and the need for dialogue and cooperation between all stakeholders in their implementation were also discussed.

  • ‘We are witnessing the extremely rapid development of digital media. This development brings with it a number of challenges. It is therefore important to determine how digitisation should proceed in order to ensure it is both responsible and safe. What principles should journalists and the media adhere to in order to be both free and responsible? How can innovation be combined with human rights and the rights of the audience?' noted Dr Agnieszka Glapiak.

The Chair of the National Broadcasting Council emphasised the importance of developing joint solutions that promote innovation while protecting citizens' rights in the digital world.
