Poland in Malta

On 11th of February a theatre performance 'Writers Asylum. Photographic memory' prepared by Nettheatre / Near East took place at Spazju Kreattiv Theatre in Valletta.

Polish Embassy completed the first stage of the project organized as part of the Szymborska Year celebrations in Malta. Embassy provided all (68) secondary schools in Malta and Gozo and the largest public libraries with a Maltese translation of the poetry book titled "Moment" ("Waqt").

We are very happy to announce that from today poetry lovers in Malta can finally enjoy reading Wisława Szymborska's poems in Maltese. The volume 'Waqt' ('Moment') is the first ever Polish poetry book translated into Maltese.

On 26th of January the article entitled '250 years of fighting Russian imperialism' by Eryk Mistewicz was published in 'The Times of Malta'. The article the article was published on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the outbreak of the January Uprising as part of the "Telling Poland to the World" campaign of the New Media Institute.

On 20th of January at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Cospicua, a concert of the Capella Cracoviensis - a period instrument ensemble and a chamber choir - took place.

On 14 th of December a Christmas meeting for Polish citizens living in Malta was held in Bugibba.

On 6th of December a concert of film music by Wojciech Kilar took place. The concert entitled 'Let us love one another!' was held on the occasion of the composer's 90th birthday celebrating this year. The event took place in the St. James Cavalier in Valletta - the seat of the Spazju Kreattiv - prestigious cultural center.

On 11th of November in Palazzo de La Salle in Valletta a jazz concert by Włodek Pawlik took place.
