Biomethane Systems

Technnology description

One way to utilize biogas is to purify and upgrade it to biomethane, which can supply the gas grid or be liquefied/compressed into bioLNG/bioCNG fuel.

Biomethane is purified biogas that can be produced using various substrates. The most commonly used include: energy crops, plant and agricultural residues (including manure), waste and sewage sludge, residues from the agri-food industry, and the biodegradable fraction of municipal waste. According to the Renewable Energy Sources Act, biomethane is gas obtained from biogas, agricultural biogas, or renewable hydrogen—subjected to purification—introduced into the gas grid or transported in compressed or liquefied form by means other than gas networks, or used for refueling motor vehicles without the need for transport.
