"Other geological documentation" is one of the types of geological documentation defined in Article 88(2) of the Geological and Mining Law.
Purpose of the documentation
The purpose of preparing other geological documentation is to present the results of geological works along with their interpretation, an assessment of the degree to which the intended objective has been achieved, and a justification of the obtained results.
When Is the documentation required?
- Execution of geological works that do not result in documenting mineral deposit resources or groundwater resources;
- Drilling a borehole to investigate deep subsurface structures, not related to documenting mineral deposits;
- Execution of geological works for the purpose of utilizing Earth's heat;
- Decommissioning of a borehole;
- Conducting geophysical surveys to investigate geological structures associated with hydrocarbon deposits;
- Execution of geological works using geophysical surveys for regional geological studies of the country;
- Execution of geological works using seismic surveys within the maritime areas of the Republic of Poland for the siting of offshore wind farms and associated power transmission infrastructure, as defined in Article 3(3) and (13) of the Act of 17 December 2020 on promoting electricity generation in offshore wind farms.
Contents of other geological documentation
Detailed requirements for other geological documentation, including templates, summaries, and forms to be attached, are specified in the Regulation of the Minister of Climate and Environment of 23 December 2020 on other geological documentation (Journal of Laws 2020, item 2449).
The process
Other geological documentation must be prepared in one paper copy and three electronic copies on data storage devices, within 6 months from the completion of the works, and submitted to the authority that issued the concession, approved the geological works project, or received the notification of the geological works project.
If the documentation concerns only the maritime areas of the Republic of Poland, it must be prepared in one paper copy and one electronic copy on a data storage device, also within 6 months from the completion of the works, and submitted to the relevant authority.
