Development Cooperation

Development projects implemented by the embassy

Who implements development projects run by the embassy?

Development projects are carried out independently by Polish foreign missions or in cooperation with local partners (from Tanzania. Rwanda, Burundi, Malawi or the Comoros).

Entities authorized to submit project proposals (applicants) are:

  • local NGOs,
  • international non-governmental organizations based outside of the Republic of Poland,
  • Catholic missions and other religious organizations,
  • public utility institutions,
  • local and central administration,
  • social media.
What is the purpose of the projects?

These projects improve the living conditions of the least-favored groups and create better prospects for the future. Projects are prepared and initiated at the local level, taking into account the real need for support and local socio-cultural realities. The current priorities of Polish development cooperation can be found on the Polish Aid page.

Where can the project be implemented?

Projects can be implemented in one of the Embassy's accreditation countries: Burundi, the Comoros, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania.

How to obtain funding?

Funds are allocated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on annual basis. Projects are submitted by Polish embassies.

Applications for the following year should be submitted to the embassy by the end of December of the given year, i.e. preceding the one in which the project is to be implemented and the funds spent. Projects should amount to a maximum of USD 33,000. Project implementation must be completed by December 31.

Funds are transferred in the form of refund (based on the invoices provided), not grant.

If you are interested in submitting a project, please complete the concept note and send it to: daressalaam.amb.sekretariat@msz.gov.pl

The embassy reserves the right to respond only to selected applications. In the event of initial acceptance of the concept note, we will ask for submitting a full project form, which will then be submitted for assessment by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The  results are announced until the end of May.

Additional information about the competition may appear in the embassy news.

More information is available on the Polish Aid website.
