21.05.2026
On 20 May 2026, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tanzania, together with the Delegation of the European Union to Tanzania and the East African Community, organised a European Piano Recital featuring Polish pianist Mateusz Dubiel held as part of Europe Month 2026 celebrations.
The concert provided an opportunity to celebrate Europe’s rich musical heritage and highlight the role of culture in fostering dialogue and international cooperation. Participants included Hon. Hamis Mwinjuma, Deputy Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports of the United Republic of Tanzania, representatives of the Tanzanian authorities, members of the diplomatic corps, institutional partners, government and business circles, as well as directors of cultural institutions and centres.
In his remarks, Head of Mission Sergiusz Wolski highlighted that classical music remains one of Europe’s most valuable shared cultural treasures and an important instrument for building connections between societies. The recital programme featured works by distinguished European composers, including Fryderyk Chopin, Ludwig van Beethoven and Claude Debussy.
Mateusz Dubiel is regarded as one of the most promising young Polish pianists of his generation. In 2025, he won First Prize at the 53rd Fryderyk Chopin National Piano Competition in Warsaw, securing direct qualification for the 19th International Chopin Piano Competition.
