Poland in Tanzania

On December 4-6, 2022, Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński visited Rwanda, where the MFA delegation was also accompanied by: a delegation of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology with Deputy Minister Grzegorz Piechowiak and a delegation of the Ministry of Finance with Deputy Minister Artur Soboń, as well as an economic mission co-organized by Polish Investment and Trade Agency with Vice-President Zdzisław Sokal. During the visit, a Business Forum was held with the participation of 20 Polish companies and an Educational Forum with the participation of 7 Polish universities.

As part of the European Film Festival, which joined forces with the Zanzibar International Film Festival, on October 27 - November 18, 2022, movies from 11 European countries, including Poland and Ukraine, were screened.

During the gala reception on the occasion of the 104th anniversary of regaining independence, organized in the gardens of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam, Ambassador Krzysztof Buzalski read a letter from Minister Piotr Wawrzyk with wishes for the Polish community in the world and recalled the history of regaining independence. During the celebrations, a joint Polish-Ukrainian exhibition "Mom, I don't want war!" was also presented.

As part of the cooperation of the EUNIC (European Union National Institutes of Culture) cluster in Tanzania, we participated in the implementation of the "Umoja"/Unity” project, supporting the interaction of artists from East Africa and Europe, realized by the embassies of: France, Spain, Germany, Italy and Poland and the EU Delegation, Alliance Francaise and Goethe Institut, as well as local partners: Muda Africa, Nafasi Art Space, Nantea Dance Company and Dar es Salaam University.

Thanks to Polish Aid funds and the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam, the Pendo Surgical Consulting Clinic in the Tanzanian city of Mtwara has just completed a several-month project implemented in 2022, devoted to developing an early breast cancer diagnosis program in the region.

The 3rd international conference “Change and Adaptations towards Sustainable Development” has been organized at the University College of Education in Mkwawa on November 2nd and 3rd 2022.

On the occasion of All Saints' Day, Ambassador Krzysztof Buzalski and representatives of the Embassy laid flowers on the graves of compatriots at the Kinondoni cemetery in Dar es Salaam, while Consul Piotr Kruze visited the largest Polish necropolis in Africa in Tengeru and cemeteries in Kondoa and Ifunda.

Several dozen girls from the village of Mtae in Tanzania took part in this year's "Sisters' Workshop" project, gaining professional skills in the field of tailoring. Its implementation was possible thanks to the Polish Aid funds as part of a small grant awarded by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam to a local partner - A.D. View Management Ltd.

On October 17-19, 2022, Ambassador Krzysztof Buzalski participated in the meetings of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania Stergomena Tax and in meetings at SGGW and PAIH and with Polish companies interested in cooperation with Tanzania.

On October 10-15, 2022, Ambassador Krzysztof Buzalski accompanied the delegation of the Polish Sejm and Senate to the 145th session of the IPU in Kigali and during meetings with the Speaker of Rwanda Senate Dr. Iyamuremye Augustin and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Vincent Biruta, as well as at the Kigali Genocide Memorial and the School for blind children in Kibeho.
