Poland in Tanzania

Today, Poland has started its one-year Chairmanship at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Thus, our country is assuming a greater role in shaping security and stabilisation on the European continent in the spirit of the Helsinki Final Act, whose 50th anniversary we will be celebrating in 2025.

Thanks to the cooperation of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam, the Center for Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions and Resettlements of the Pedagogical University in Cracow, the PU "Pro Universitatis" Foundation and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, another Polish cemetery in Tanzania has been renovated.

We would like to kindly inform that the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam will be closed on December 24, 2021 and January 6-7, 2022.

Thanks to Polish Aid, children from the primary school in Gitega-Songa in Burundi will develop their IT skills, while their teachers will be able to introduce new teaching methods, which will undoubtedly translate into better learning results of the pupils.

Every day, about 300 children from the Usambara Mountains region in Tanzania benefit from extra-curricular education facilities organized in rooms renovated and equipped thanks to Polish Aid. This year, thanks to the involvement of a local partner - A.D. Views Management Ltd. and funds donated as part of Polish development cooperation by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam, already around 300 girls and boys from the Lushoto district in the Usambara mountains in northern Tanzania attend specially organized rooms providing not only a safe place to play, but above all to learn.

Health protection is one of the priorities of Poland's development cooperation with African countries. That is why this year we continue to subsidize the project of the APOPO organization implemented in Tanzania, which consists in detecting tuberculosis with the help of the southern giant pouched rats.

Within the framework of Polish development cooperation, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam continues its commitment to educating Burundian youth. This year, thanks to funds provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Polish missionaries from the Congregation of the Discalced Carmelite Fathers organized three workshop sessions in the academic city of Gitega in Burundi, each of which was addressed to a group of 40 participants.

As part of the celebration of the Chopin Year, on November 24, 2021, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam organized, in cooperation with the Embassy of Germany, a piano concert performed by the outstanding Polish pianist Jan Krzysztof Broja.

On November 21, 2021, Rwanda received a donation of 300,000 vaccines against #COVID19 from Poland. The donation was received at the Kigali International Airport by representatives of Rwandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Rwanda Charles Ngarambe.

During the festive reception on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of regaining independence organized in the gardens of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam, Ambassador Krzysztof Buzalski read a letter from Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk with wishes for the Polish diaspora in the world and recalled the history of regaining independence.
