Poland in Tanzania

In the North-West of Tanzania - in Kiabakari - two development projects financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland within ‘Polish Development Aid in 2021’ competition and carried-out by the Kiabakari Foundation as well as the Catholic Parish of Kiabakari have been inaugurated.

On March 23, 2022, at the Alliance Francaise in Dar es Salaam, we had the pleasure to listen to a concert of Polish and Tanzanian artists as part of the 2nd edition of the Pamoja Zanzibar Festival, organized by Radek Bond Bednarz and supported by our Embassy. Ambassador Buzalski dedicated a concert to the victims of the war in Ukraine.

In connection with Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, a website has been set up at pomagamukrainie.gov.pl to coordinate the aid. It contains a sign-up form for everyone interested in helping Ukraine.

Banach NAWA scholarships, a joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, have been prepared for young people from developing countries who wish to study in Poland. A call for the next edition of the programme has just begun.

In recent days, false information about the alleged mistreatment of particular countries citizens by Polish and Ukrainian services has appeared in the public space. Manipulated photos and videos circulate on social media to discredit and tarnish the image of both Ukraine and Poland. The media have become another theatre of war, which is why we urge you not to be manipulated. The target of disinformation attacks is not only Ukraine, but also the Western world.

Thanks to the involvement of Polish archeologist Maciej Grzelczyk and the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam, at the end of 2021 a project implemented as part of Polish aid aimed at activating and educating the inhabitants of the Usandawe area in Tanzania in order to protect rock art and the cultural heritage of the Sandawe community has been completed.

Today, Poland has started its one-year Chairmanship at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Thus, our country is assuming a greater role in shaping security and stabilisation on the European continent in the spirit of the Helsinki Final Act, whose 50th anniversary we will be celebrating in 2025.

Thanks to the cooperation of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam, the Center for Documentation of Deportations, Expulsions and Resettlements of the Pedagogical University in Cracow, the PU "Pro Universitatis" Foundation and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, another Polish cemetery in Tanzania has been renovated.

We would like to kindly inform that the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam will be closed on December 24, 2021 and January 6-7, 2022.

Thanks to Polish Aid, children from the primary school in Gitega-Songa in Burundi will develop their IT skills, while their teachers will be able to introduce new teaching methods, which will undoubtedly translate into better learning results of the pupils.
