Poland in Tanzania

Ambassador Krzysztof Buzalski visited the Swaga Swaga nature reserve in Tanzania, where Polish archaeologist Maciej Grzelczyk recently discovered unknown rock paintings from several thousand years ago, and held talks with the reserve authorities and our scientist to support his further research.

Ambassador Krzysztof Buzalski and Nuncio Marek Solczyński participated in the inauguration of the Tandale Women Support Centre in difficult life situation, run by the Congregations of White Fathers and White Sisters in Tandale, district of Dar es Salaam. The project is financed by Polish Aid.

Blind and visually impaired children in Rwanda have a chance for education thanks to the hard work of the Franciscan Sisters Servants of the Cross, whom Dr. Ewelina Lubieniecka from the Polish Embassy in Dar es Salaam had the pleasure to visit.

Polish experience in the field of modernization of the livestock sector may be particularly useful for Tanzania due to the similarities between the two countries. In Poland, which has successfully undergone the process of economic transformation in the last thirty years, we understand the challenges posed by it - said Ambassador Krzysztof Buzalski during the inauguration of a modern laboratory launched at the Livestock Training Agency (LITA) in Tengeru near Arusza on December 1, 2020.

The project "Enhancing human-elephant coexistence in the Kilombero Valley, Tanzania through farmer-led beehive fence projects and child and adult education" is co-financed by Polish aid as a project of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam and the Tanzanian NGO Southern Tanzania Elephant Project (STEP). Dr. Ewelina Lubieniecka, representative of the Embassy, visited local communities that benefit from the project.

On November 22-27, 2020, Ambassador Krzysztof Buzalski and Consul Katarzyna Sobiecka visited Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. The purpose of the trip was to discuss a number of initiatives in the field of bilateral cooperation, including in the economic and consular areas.

As part of the celebration of the 210th anniversary of the birth of Fryderyk Chopin, the Embassy of Poland in Dar es Salaam organized, in cooperation with the Embassy of Germany, a piano concert performed by an outstanding Polish pianist Jan Krzysztof Broja.

“As the Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Army, I hereby notify belligerent and neutral governments and nations of the existence of an Independent Polish State, within all the territories of the united Poland” – with these words Józef Piłsudski addressed the heads of world powers and notified them about the formation of the Second Polish Republic.

During the festive reception on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of regaining independence organized in the gardens of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam, Ambassador Krzysztof Buzalski read a letter from Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk with wishes for the Polish diaspora in the world and recalled the history of regaining independence.

On 11 November 1918, 102 years ago, Poland regained its independence. On this day, after his release from the Magdeburg Fortress, Józef Piłsudski took over military command from the Regency Council and, three days later, assumed supreme authority over civilian matters, to finally “as Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Army [...] notify belligerent and neutral governments and nations” of the reappearance of “the reborn and independent Republic of Poland” on the map. After 123 years of captivity, Poland became a sovereign and internationally recognised state.
