27.02.2025

On the occasion of the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Dar es Salaam, in cooperation with the newly opened Embassy of Ukraine in Tanzania, organized a screening of the documentary film “In the Rearview”, directed by Maciek Hamela. The event was primarily attended by members of the diplomatic corps and the local community interested in the current situation in Ukraine.

The film was created by Maciej Hamela, who, following the outbreak of the war, purchased a used van and set off for Ukraine to assist those forced to leave their homes. For the following months, he transported refugees while documenting their moving stories. His vehicle became a temporary refuge—a place where they could find a moment of respite and share their experiences. The film presents the reality of war in an exceptionally authentic and poignant way. It is a story of loss, hope, and human solidarity in the face of tragedy.

As part of the event, the exhibition Mom, I Don’t Want War was also presented, showcasing the harrowing testimonies of children—both contemporary victims of the war in Ukraine and those who lived through World War II.
