05.01.2026
Under the Polish aid project, medical equipment was delivered to two regional hospitals in Dar es Salaam as well as to the Tanzania-Poland Emergency Medicine Training Centre, contributing to the strengthening of Tanzania's emergency medical care system.
At the end of 2025, within the framework of the Polish aid project “Strengthening Emergency Care in Tanzania”, specialised medical equipment was procured and delivered to Mwananyamala Regional Hospital and Temeke Regional Hospital in Dar es Salaam. The equipment was also provided to the Tanzania–Poland Emergency Medicine Training Centre in Dar es Salaam. The deliveries included, among others, equipment for oxygen therapy and ventilation, airway management sets, and basic diagnostic tools.
The project was implemented with the involvement of the Aga Khan Health Service (AKHST) team and forms part of Poland–Tanzania development cooperation in the health sector. Its objective was to enhance the capacity of medical personnel to respond effectively in emergency situations and to improve the quality of care provided to patients in emergency departments.
In the coming year, the direct beneficiaries of the project will include more than 100 healthcare professionals, who will strengthen their professional competencies through new equipment and training, as well as over 3,000 emergency department patients at Mwananyamala and Temeke hospitals, who will benefit from improved medical care.
