28.08.2025

The winners of the EU Youth Debate Contest took part in a study visit to Poland, during which they visited Warsaw and Gdańsk, exploring state institutions, as well as the history and culture of our country.

Gdansk visit

From 17 to 25 August 2025, three winners of the EU Youth Debate Contest – Careen James Ndika (University of Dar es Salaam), Diana Shabani (Tumaini University) and Kijafaraja Maduhu (University of Dar es Salaam) – participated in a study visit to Poland.

During their stay, the Tanzanian students visited Warsaw and Gdańsk, gaining insight into Polish state institutions and the rich history and culture of our country. In Warsaw, they toured the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Polish Parliament, the Old Town with the Royal Castle, Copernicus Science Centre and the Warsaw Uprising Museum, as well as the editorial office of one of Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper. In Gdańsk, they learned about the legacy of the Solidarity movement and the traditions of this historic port city.

The study visit, sponsored by the Embassy of Poland in Dar es Salaam and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, was a prize within the EU Youth Debate Contest 2025. The competition was organized by the EU Delegation in Dar es Salaam in cooperation with EU Member State embassies, including the Embassy of Poland in Dar es Salaam, as well as local partners. It aimed to strengthen the role of Tanzanian youth in society, foster critical thinking and entrepreneurship, and promote a culture of dialogue.

We once again warmly congratulate the winners and wish them every success in their future studies and social activities.
