On the first day of his visit to New York for the opening of the 80th UN General Assembly Session, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski took the floor at the emergency meeting of the UN Security Council called at Estonia's request.

For the first time in 80 years of the UN's history, a Security Council session was convened at Poland's request to discuss the recent incursion into the Polish airspace by Russian aircraft. Poland was represented by Secretary of State at the Foreign Ministry Marcin Bosacki who spoke at the session.

On Poland's initiative, on the sidelines of an emergency session of the UN Security Council, a group of 48 countries and the EU Delegation issued a joint press statement on the largest violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. The statement was delivered by Secretary of State at the Foreign Ministry Marcin Bosacki.

The objective of the meeting was to summarize and plan the future local cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine in Abu Dhabi.
