Today, the Director-General Bogusław Wijatyk met with the Chinese Ambassador to Poland Sun Linjiang. They discussed the most important issues in the field of bilateral cooperation in the agri-food sector, including the state of preparations for bilateral high-level meetings planned this year.

Meeting of the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council (AGRIFISH) was mainly devoted to the current situation in agriculture related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Polish delegation was chaired by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czesław Siekierski.

The Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak represented Poland during the meeting of the fisheries ministers of the European Union. The meeting was held on 24-25 March 2024 in Bruges, Belgium.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czeslaw Siekierski met yesterday with Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade Representative of Ukraine, Taras Kachka and Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Poland Vasyl Zvarych. Michał Kołodziejczak, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Bogusław Wijatyk, Director-General at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, also participated in the discussion.

Today, Undersecretary of State Adam Nowak participated in a conference entitled “European Farmers’ Deal: EPP Vision for Agriculture in Europe”, held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The event was organised by the European People’s Party (EPP).

Today, at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak met with the new Minister-Counsellor at the British Embassy Warsaw, Jennifer Tyldesley. The meeting focused on the state of play and prospects of Polish-British cooperation in the field of agriculture, as well as current challenges in the sector.

Today, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czesław Siekierski participated in the 9th meeting of the Polish-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, which was held in Lviv. The meeting was also attended by the Chief Veterinary Officer Paweł Niemczuk.

Today, the Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak met with the high-ranking World Bank representatives: Sameh Wahba, Regional Director for Sustainable Development at the Europe and Central Asia region and Marc Sadler, the programme leader.

Farmers’ protests, Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture – those topics were discussed today by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czesław Siekierski and the Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture Cem Özdemir.

Today, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania Kęstutis Navickas and Minister Czesław Siekierski talked about the situation in the agricultural sector. After a bilateral online meeting, they agreed on a joint statement. The Ministers confirmed therein that Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine had resulted in increased flows of goods and created new challenges for the official food and feed control authorities in Poland and Lithuania.
