The consistent implementation of projects designed to minimise the mine’s environmental impact has led to tangible environmental results. The Commission noted particular progress in improving air quality. Light pollution levels are also steadily decreasing. No deviations from the norm have been recorded with respect to soil movement, and the hydrogeological situation is stable. The Polish side emphasised the need for effective information exchange, which enables effective and rapid intervention in problematic situations.

Constructive cooperation aimed at minimising the negative impact of the Turów mine is possible thanks to the very good bilateral relations with the Czech Republic. Regular dialogue takes place both between experts and at ministerial level. Over recent months, the Polish and Czech sides have repeatedly demonstrated their shared commitment to tackling environmental, energy and climate challenges. This is particularly evident in the investments being undertaken under the Small Projects Fund, established based on the Polish-Czech agreement on Turów.

The Commission’s work shows that we are good neighbours who are able to engage in constructive dialogue even on difficult issues. Since the agreement was signed, we have succeeded in implementing many measures to limit the negative environmental impact of the Turów mine, and we are continuing our efforts to improve the quality of life for local communities

The meeting was attended by representatives of the relevant ministries, local authorities from the Turów region on both sides of the border, experts from geological services, and representatives of PGE GiEK S.A. The previous meeting took place in the Czech Republic, in Hradek nad Nissou.
