Highlights

• The call for proposals under the National Recovery Plan (NRP) for investments in energy communities has been finalised.
• Funding from the National Recovery Plan totalling over PLN 850 million will be allocated to a total of 25 projects.
• Since October 2025, the Ministry of Climate and Environment has already signed 20 contracts, and these projects are already underway. 
• On 10 June 2026, two further agreements were signed at the Ministry of Climate and Environment’s headquarters.  
• The total value of all the projects is over PLN 1 billion.  
• The support covers investments in renewable energy sources, energy storage facilities and energy management systems.  
• The projects will be implemented by energy clusters and energy cooperatives, established mainly by local authorities and local authority-owned companies.  

True patriotism means supporting the development of renewable energy sources. A distributed system is far more resilient to attacks – both digital and physical. Thanks to solar and wind power, we do not have to rely on third countries, and this protects us from price fluctuations and energy blackmail

Local authorities are investing in low-cost energy 

The funding flowing to Polish local authorities provides a real boost to the transition, driving the dynamic development of renewable energy sources directly in the regions. As each of the selected projects is co-developed by local authorities or their companies, local communities are given the opportunity to actively and responsibly shape their own energy future. The wide range of planned investments includes the construction of renewable energy installations and energy storage facilities, as well as the implementation of modern management systems and solutions to improve grid stability, which will ultimately guarantee residents constant access to cheaper electricity. 

In addition to the main source of funding, the Ministry of Climate and Environment has decided to allocate a further PLN 185 million for pre-investment support. As part of this phase, 162 projects are already underway, aimed at professionally preparing the documentation necessary for future investments, conducted directly by energy communities. 

Further contracts signed 

On Wednesday, two agreements were signed at the Ministry of Climate and Environment to provide funding for the following projects: 

• The Sandomierz County Energy Cluster, implemented by the Sandomierz County company, which will receive PLN 50 million in funding. The project aims to increase the production of renewable energy and energy storage capacity, thereby enhancing the county’s energy independence.  
• The Nowe Skalmierzyce and Ostrów Wielkopolski Municipalities Energy Cluster will receive over PLN 45 million for PV installations and energy storage facilities on public buildings, as well as for the development of an energy management system. This project also includes the construction of a hydrogen energy storage facility.  

Completion of all projects is scheduled for the end of June 2027.
