Highlights 

• 29 art schools across 16 provinces will receive funding for investments in thermal modernisation, the replacement of heating systems, and new renewable energy sources;

Young artists deserve to be taught in the best possible conditions and to the highest possible standard.  Thermal modernisation of a school building isn’t just about comfort and warmth; it also brings real savings on heating costs. Depending on the institution, this can amount to tens of thousands of zlotys a year. These are funds that can be used to improve the quality of education for young Polish artists

Comprehensive thermal refurbishment 

The "Comprehensive Energy Modernization of Selected Art Education Institutions in Poland" programme will cover 29 art schools. In total, 33 buildings with a combined floor area of almost 74,000 square metres will undergo thermal refurbishment. The total cost of the project is PLN 120.75 million, of which nearly PLN 70 million will be provided in funding. The funding comes from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and the Environment 2021-2027 (FEnIKS) programme. 

Investments will be tailored to the specific needs of each educational institution. Among other things, renewable energy sources with a total capacity of 464 kW of electricity and 133 kW of heat, as well as electricity storage facilities with a capacity of 0.73 MWh, will be installed. Heating systems will also be replaced in seven buildings. Thermal insulation work will also be carried out, doors and windows will be replaced, the ventilation and air-conditioning systems will be upgraded, and the lighting will be replaced with energy-efficient fixtures. 

As a result of the project implementation, primary energy consumption will be reduced by over 6,700 MWh/year and CO2 emissions will be reduced by nearly 2,000 tonnes.

A major programme to improve the energy efficiency of schools

The energy modernization of art schools is a continuation of the Ministry of Climate and Environment's efforts to reduce energy costs and improve the quality of learning in Polish schools. With PLN 1.5 billion in funds from the National Recovery Plan, investments are being made in 434 schools and preschools across Poland. As with art schools, these investments include comprehensive thermal modernization, the scope of which depends on the needs of the individual institution.
