02.10.2021

On 1 October 2021 in Piotrków Trybunalski, the Vice-Minister of Climate and Environment, Edward Siarka, inaugurated the #SadziMY action by planting trees together with the Presidential Couple. The public administration employees, scouts, soldiers, firemen and State Forests employees planted pines, beeches and mountain ashes at the area of more than 3 ha in the Wolborski Wood at the outskirts of Piotrków Trybunalski.

A #sadziMY nationwide campaign joined by the Presidential Couple kicked off!

As emphasized by the Vice-Minister of Climate and Environment, Edwark Siarka, the area of forests in Poland continues to increase – they occupy nearly one third of the country’s territory.

– The #sadziMY action is organised to unite us all around the nature as our national good that we need to protect and cherish together. Planting trees is one of the most effective methods to counteract climate change. They sequester carbon dioxide, slow down the runoff of surface waters and improve microclimate. This is why it is so important to care of the Polish forests – he said.

The Minister added that each volunteer will receive seedlings of native trees in the forestry service offices. The foresters will also give some useful tips how and where to plant each species.

“Let’s remember that a small tree will once become tens of meters large one. Such tree is a great way to commemorate an event of importance for a family or local community. And a great reason to meet in the circle of friends and close ones” – he emphasized.

The action was officially inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda and the First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda.
