Additional EU funding for water supply and sewerage investments in Poznań
02.04.2026
The Poznań-based company Aquanet has secured PLN 34.5 million from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment (FEnIKS) programme. Thanks to these funds, more residents of the Greater Poland capital, Luboń, and the municipalities of Czerwonak, Kórnik, Mosina and Murowana Goślina will gain access to the sewerage network. The Minister of Climate and Environment, Paulina Hennig-Kloska, attended the signing ceremony.
Highlights
- The subsidised project involves the construction of 15 km of sewerage network, which will enable nearly 1,500 people to be connected to mains.
- This means hundreds of septic tanks have been removed, bringing a real improvement in residents’ quality of life. The combined sewer on Św. Wawrzyńca Street in Poznań has also been rebuilt.
FEnIKS is worth over EUR 24 billion and is the largest national programme under this EU financial framework. Through these measures, we are supporting the development of a low-carbon economy, environmental protection, and efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The programme also includes transport investments and will provide funding for healthcare and cultural heritage. I’m delighted that Poznań and Greater Poland are able to make such good use of them
– stressed Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska.
This is not the first funding from the FEnIKS programme to support the development of the water and wastewater sector in Poznań and the surrounding area. Last year alone, Aquanet signed contracts for PLN 203 million in funding for projects such as the modernisation of the ‘Wiśniowa’ water treatment plant, the construction of 50 km of sanitary sewerage network, and various rainwater management initiatives. The total amount of all EU funds obtained in recent decades for the modernisation and development of the infrastructure managed by Aquanet exceeds PLN 1.15 billion.
This is a tangible benefit for all residents of the conurbation – each of the projects being implemented brings environmental benefits and also contributes to increasing the region’s resilience.
The contract for the project ‘Restructuring of water and wastewater management to protect water resources in Poznań and the surrounding area – Phase VIII’ was signed on 2 April 2026 in the presence of Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Minister of Climate and Environment. On behalf of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, the contract was signed by Deputy President Robert Gajda, whilst Aquanet was represented by Vice-President Anna Graczyk and Director of the Asset Management Department Tymoteusz Pielach.
Investments under the FEnIKS water and wastewater management measure are worth PLN 5 billion, and the NFEP&WM will allocate PLN 2.6 billion in EU funding for their implementation. Altogether, the projects will result in nearly 500 km of infrastructure, the connection of 300,000 residents to collective sewerage systems, and the modernisation and construction of a total of 30 sewage treatment plants. Investments carried out under the FEnIKS water and wastewater management measure increase the level of sewerage coverage in urban areas, improve water quality and ensure more efficient and safer wastewater treatment.
