Amendment to the tariff regulation has been signed

05.01.2022

On 5 January 2022, the Minister of Climate and Environment, Anna Moskwa, signed the regulation amending the regulation on detailed rules of setting and calculating tariffs and financial settlements in electricity trading.

Amendment to the tariff regulation has been signed

The amendment in question imposes on official suppliers, whose tariffs on the sale of electricity are approved by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office, an obligation to attach to invoices for recipients the information regarding the percentage determination of purchase costs of electricity.

The cost structure will be calculated using a specific formula, binding on all trading enterprises charged with the above-mentioned obligation, which will result in objective and transparent calculations for all end recipients. In practice, new regulations oblige suppliers to provide the energy recipient with the information which costs and to what extent form the final price of electricity (inter alia, purchase costs of CO2 emission allowances and costs of acquisition and redemption of certificates of origin).

The amendments introduced are aimed at building and improving awareness of recipients of electricity as regards:

- factors having an impact on rises in electricity bills,

- importance of the issues related to climate change and their impact on society, household budgets and the economy,

and in the case of enterprises, they are aimed at mobilising them to carry out the faster decarbonisation of energy sources.

The Regulation of the Minister of Climate and Environment amending the regulation on detailed rules of setting and calculating tariffs and financial settlements in electricity trading has been submitted to be published in the Journal of Laws and will enter into force on the day following the day of its publishing.
