Anna Łukaszewska-Trzeciakowska - new Minister of Climate and Environment

The President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, appointed Anna Łukaszewska-Trzeciakowska as Minister of Climate and Environment on 27 November 2023.

Anna Łukaszewska-Trzeciakowska is an economist by profession and an MBA graduate. She started her career in defence companies, where in 2002 and 2007 she was responsible for, among other things, international projects, restructuring, consolidation, international cooperation, strategic business projects, as well as supervision of foreign delegations.

Since 2007, she has worked in the energy sector, including as President of the Management Board of Elektrownia "Kozienice" S.A., where she was responsible for preparing investments to construct a new 1000 MW power unit. She has also run consulting and advisory services business for large-scale energy projects.

From 2017 to 2019, she was responsible for corporate affairs, PR and communications at the Polish Electricity Committee.

She has served as an Expert and Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Maritime Economy and Inland Navigation. She prepared the financing model for infrastructure investments and opinions in the process of national and EU legislation related to water management and energy, including the development of renewable energy sources.

Subsequently, she was Director of the Regional Water Management Board in Warsaw from 2020 to 2021. In 2021, she worked at ORLEN Group companies. She was President of the Management Boards of the Baltic Power and ORLEN Neptun, where she was responsible for the development of Polish and foreign offshore wind projects.

She has many years of experience on the Supervisory Boards of state-owned companies. She is a member of the Offshore Wind Energy Coordinating Council.

From July 2022 to June 2023, she served as Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Climate and Environment. At the time, she was responsible, among other things, for a package of regulations to counteract the effects of the energy crisis caused by Russian aggression in Ukraine, including solutions for the energy market and the heating sector. She also led the amendment of the law, which facilitated investments in distribution projects above 100 kV, which are crucial for deriving electricity from the transmission network to the distribution networks.

On 2 June 2023, she was appointed Secretary of State and Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure.

She has a good command of English and Russian and speaks German fluently.
