Poland presented its position on the content of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.

The framework is to form the basis for preparation and adoption of the national biodiversity strategies, transposing the global provisions onto the national level, with consideration to the conditions and capacities of individual states. The point is to ensure that the global biodiversity framework address the needs of all parties to the convention

– said Deputy Minister Guibourgé-Czetwertyński.

The Council discussed also the Russian aggression in Ukraine and the ways the EU Member State may support the establishment of framework for its future ecological recovery. Deputy Minister Adam Guibourgé-Czetwertyński emphasized the current involvement of Poland in this area.

The Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment has already taken numerous important measures towards the ecological recovery of Ukraine. We declared our support, among others in the scope of recording the environmental losses, analysis of international legislation and joint submission of complaints under the international conventions and organisations. We have already provided the specialist equipment and continue to do so. We want our Neighbours to receive immediate and effective support in combating the environmental losses caused by the Russian aggression in Ukraine. The European Commission should also mobilise the pre-accession funds for Ukraine

– said the Deputy Minister.
