As emphasised by the government plenipotentiary for RES, Ireneusz Zyska, one of the most important elements of the ongoing public debate in the European Union is to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, and the goal itself must be achieved primarily through investments and technological changes.

The goal of the New Energy programme is to increase the level of innovation in the economy by supporting the implementation of projects in the field of modern energy technologies, aimed at the development of zero-emission energy, including industry, as well as system solutions allowing for maximum efficiency in energy production, management and use. Support from the Programme was directed, among others, to enterprises implementing technologies of production, transport, storage and use of hydrogen, he said.

The Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment pointed out that hydrogen technologies are and will be supported in Poland.

There are plans to introduce aid programmes at both national and European levels to stimulate the development of hydrogen technologies. The ministry of climate and environment is planning a number of activities in the area of hydrogen economy, including the presentation of the Polish Hydrogen Strategy and development of the Polish Hydrogen Agreement, he stressed.

Deputy Minister Ireneusz Zyska also presented the tasks implemented by the ministry of climate and environment in order to improve air quality and reduce the negative impact of enterprises on the environment. These include amendment to the Act on supporting thermo-modernisation and renovation signed by the President of the Republic of Poland on 28 October 2020 and continuation of legislative work on the implementation of the STOP SMOG Programme.
