Highlights: 

• At the POLITICO Energy & Climate Forum, Deputy Minister Krzysztof Bolesta took part in a debate on the implementation of the EU’s climate policy in times of crisis. 
• The Deputy Minister also took part in the 13th meeting of the Agora Council for Europe on the development of renewable energy sources and electrification. 
• During the meetings, the main challenges of the energy transition were discussed, including energy costs and infrastructure development. 
• The Deputy Minister emphasised the importance of striking a balance between achieving climate targets and economic and social considerations. 
• The Deputy Minister also took part in a meeting with DG CLIMA regarding the planned reform of the EU ETS. 

On 1–2 June 2026, Krzysztof Bolesta, Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment, took part in meetings in Brussels focusing on the key challenges facing the European Union’s energy and climate policies. 

On 1 June 2026, the Deputy Minister took part in the POLITICO Energy & Climate Forum – one of the most important events in the European public debate on energy and climate. During the ‘In Conversation With’ session, organised as part of the event, he presented the Polish perspective on the implementation of climate policy against a backdrop of growing geopolitical tensions and fluctuating energy prices. The topics raised during the discussion included, among others, energy security, the decarbonisation of industry and the financing of the energy transition. Attention was drawn to the importance of stable conditions for investment and of taking into account the impact of the transition on the economy and energy consumers. 

On 2 June, Krzysztof Bolesta took part in the 13th meeting of the Agora Council for Europe – a discussion forum bringing together representatives of public institutions, the business sector and expert communities. The meeting focused on the development of renewable energy sources and electrification in Europe. During the discussion, attention was drawn to the need to expand and modernise the power grids, develop energy storage and improve the functioning of the entire energy system. The importance of a gradual and well-planned transition process was also emphasised, taking into account its costs and its impact on households and businesses. Issues relating to the preparation of the energy system for potential fluctuations in energy prices and the role of renewable energy sources in enhancing its resilience were also discussed. 

During his visit to Brussels, the Deputy Minister also held a meeting with representatives of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA), including the Director-General, to discuss issues relating to the reform of the EU ETS. 

Participation in the meetings provided an opportunity to present Poland’s position and to exchange views on the further development of the European Union’s energy and climate policies.
